Dimxsk Nobody sounds like this, if only for that reason this album is worth a listen. But it’s also really well done, so not only is Derill wildly creative and unique, his songwriting has continued to improve to the point that this could appeal to fans of all kinds of rap from abstract to mainstream, and even punk rock.

about

Hailing from the mighty shores of Lake Winnebago in the city of Oshkosh, WI, Derill Pounds' status may have a more regionally cult like following than a mainstream flair. As part of the independent music scene for over 17 years, Pounds has made a name for himself with his weird raps and amplified live shows and has been instrumental in the creation of what has become a strong network of musicians throughout the Midwest. Unique and generous in character and stage presence, Pounds is just a humble, fun dude, with a great love of music.

His new album Black Unicorn Denim Jacket shows off his signature style of delivery, his off beat flow, and his ability to write darkly happy songs. The listener is often required to get creative and think about the lyrics and the message. The album has a little something for everyone, from dark songs about life to straight up goofiness; classic rap bangers and crossover material. Special guest appearances include innovative artists, collaborators and friends, like Blueprint, Ecid, Lodoublet, Tim Payne, and APM. The album also features hand picked beat production from Ecid, LEIF(kolt), Chapter 7, Matthew Sawicki, LcSlak, John E. Davenport and Marcelo Martins. Pounds' favorite album to date, it may come in under the radar, but sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find that hidden gem.

Welcome to the weird. Welcome to the Gloom Bap.
